How the King's Pawn Game: Opening Trap #2 works
The King's Pawn Game: Opening Trap #2 is a classic chess opening trap arising from the King's pawn game. In this line Black wins decisive material by move 9, punishing a natural-looking but losing idea from White.
The full sequence runs 1.e4 e5 2.Qh5 Nc6 3.Bc4 g6 4.Qf3 Nf6 5.g4 h6 6.Nh3 d6 7.g5 Bxh3 8.gxf6 Bd7 9.c3. Each move looks reasonable, which is exactly why the trap is so effective over the board — White walks into it while trying to play "normal" developing moves.
This pattern is well known from master and correspondence play (opening traps+ a little bonus - Shool mat-works on low rated players - C20 - https://lichess.org/@/MarinD2204). Recognising it early lets you either spring it as Black or sidestep it as White.
