The Bird's Opening: Back-Rank Mate (Warren–Wall) is a classic chess opening trap arising from the Bird's opening. In this line Black delivers checkmate on move 7, punishing a natural-looking but losing idea from White.
The full sequence runs 1.f4 e5 2.fxe5 d6 3.exd6 Bxd6 4.Nf3 h5 5.g3 h4 6.Nxh4 Rxh4 7.gxh4 Qxh4#. Each move looks reasonable, which is exactly why the trap is so effective over the board — White walks into it while trying to play "normal" developing moves.
