The Bird's Opening: Bishop Mate #2 is a classic chess opening trap arising from the Bird's opening. In this line Black delivers checkmate on move 11, punishing a natural-looking but losing idea from White.
The full sequence runs 1.f4 e5 2.fxe5 d6 3.exd6 Bxd6 4.Nf3 Nf6 5.d4 Ne4 6.c4 O-O 7.e3 Re8 8.Qc2 Bg4 9.h3 Qh4+ 10.Nxh4 Bg3+ 11.Qf2 Bxf2#. Each move looks reasonable, which is exactly why the trap is so effective over the board — White walks into it while trying to play "normal" developing moves.
